Industrial automation and control

Automation procurement needs a clear boundary between the panel assembly, field wiring and the machine or process being controlled. Agree that boundary before comparing component lists or cabinet dimensions.

Product scope

Industrial control panels, enclosures and control or instrumentation cables are separate parts of the electrical scope. UL Listed panel enquiries are reviewed against UL 508A requirements for the proposed assembly.

Coordinate the interfaces

Identify the control functions, PLC and HMI scope, drives, field interfaces and cable entries. The project designer should supply voltage, load and SCCR requirements; panel listing does not automatically cover the complete machine.

Prepare your project information

Send schematics and revision numbers, BOM where available, field-device interfaces, enclosure environment and destination requirements. Define whether programming, commissioning or field installation is part of the requested scope.

Discuss your control panel scope

Send your specification, quantities and delivery destination for a review of the supply scope.
